Health and Eco Defense Society (HEDS) organized a Free Health Checkup
Camp at Badkulla, Nadia on 1st July 2017 along with
Distribution of Gifts and a sapling to 30 Nos. needy children of the
area on the occasion of the Birthday of eminent personality, Dr. Bidhan
Chandra Roy—
a
highly respected physician and a renowned freedom
fighter. Bidhan Roy is
considered as the great architect of West
Bengal. 1 July is celebrated as the
National Doctors'
Day every year in India. Society(HEDS) had chosen this
particular auspicious day for organizing ‘Free Health Checkup camp
& distribution of gifts’ for the underprivileged people & children of
the village.
The function
was inaugurated by garlanding the Photograph of Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy by
the M.L.A. of the locality and eminent speakers had spoken about the
illustrious life story of Dr Roy and his contribution in building up
modern West Bengal.
The emphasis
of the Health Camp was on the role of alternative system of medicine
in curing diseases as the Govt. of India is trying to bring the
mainstream of the country and specially the underprivileged and
economically weaker section of the people of the country within the fold
of the alternative system of medicine. HEDS tried to initiate the
process in a smaller way in a small rural area with a hope to expand the
boundary covering wider areas in the near future.
Eminent
personalities of the area comprising of Local MLA, Panchayet Pradhan,
Educationist, Poet, Police Personnel, graced the occasion and
spoke on the different issues concerned about the importance of service
to the humanity. The programme commenced with a welcome Speech by the
Secretary of the Organisation.
The programme
was attended by large numbers of people from every walk of life and all
expressed their satisfaction with the programme. They expressed about
their enrichment with various information with regard to health related
and other associated issues which were spoken about by the different
speakers of the camp.
At the end,
planting of sapling was done by the Local MLA followed by other eminent
personalities present on the occasion.
The programme
was completed successfully with a future plan to organize bigger events
touching different aspects of humanity or environment as may be
appropriate at the time. Scores of people were benefited by this free
health checkup endevour and other informative input offered during the
proceedings of the camp. Everyone thanked HEDS for arranging such
a camp.
